March felt like a quiet inhale before a big exhale.
It wasn’t my most productive reading month, and honestly... I’m okay with that. This month has been about preparing for surgery, getting my life in order, and giving myself permission to slow down a little. Even still, I found comfort in familiar shows, moody music, and a few really good books.
Here’s everything I consumed this month 🤍
MOVIES
- Zootopia
- Zootopia 2
- Song Sung Blue
- Tick, Tick... Boom!
This was a very “comfort + musical” movie month.
Rewatching Zootopia felt like slipping into something familiar and easy. Honestly the kind of movie you throw on when your brain needs a break. And yes, I absolutely followed that up with Zootopia 2 because apparently I was committed to the bit.
Tick, Tick… Boom! was probably the standout for me. It’s one of those movies that makes you feel inspired and slightly existential at the same time. Which feels very on brand for this phase of life. It made me cry, a lot.
TV SHOWS
- The Pitt
- Law & Order SVU
- Scrubs
- NCAA March Madness
- MTV Classic
TV this month was very much “background comfort noise.”
I’ve been rotating between The Pitt and SVU (because sometimes you just need a procedural moment), with Scrubs sprinkled in for something lighter.
March Madness also made its seasonal appearance. There’s something about having basketball on that just feels like this time of year.
And one of my favorite little rituals lately: weekend mornings with coffee and MTV Classic playing music videos. It feels nostalgic in the best way. We've been spending our Saturday mornings drinking coffee, planning our grocery delivery order together, and watching MTV Classic. It's my favorite time of the week.
MUSIC
- The Velvet Underground
This month belonged entirely to The Velvet Underground.
Moody, a little gritty, a little poetic. It matched my energy perfectly. There’s something about their sound that makes even the most ordinary moments feel cinematic.
BOOKS
- The Silent Patient (audiobook)
- The Crash (audiobook)
- The Sacrifice
- Sabotage
- The Thicket (audiobook)
Not my strongest reading month... and that’s okay.
Between prepping for surgery and just trying to get life organized, reading took a bit of a backseat. But I still found pockets of time here and there.
Audiobooks really came through for me this month, which I’m so grateful for because they let me “read” even when I didn’t have the energy to sit down with a physical book.
MARCH REFLECTION
March felt like a transition month.
A little slower. A little quieter. A lot of preparing.
I didn’t consume as much as I usually do, but everything I did felt intentional. Comforting shows, nostalgic music, and books that fit into the margins of a busy, slightly overwhelming season.
April will look very different, I think. A lot more rest, a lot more stillness… and probably a lot more media consumption while I recover.
Honestly? I’m kind of looking forward to it.
