Summer time is here! School is out, the humidity is rising, and so is the electric bill ahah! For moms like myself who work from home, it can be difficult to stay on task with everyone home. I would much rather hangout with my family than do my work. So I make sure to schedule in moments every day to do something fun to spend quality time with those I love.
We really enjoy going to the local park to watch the ducks & geese. It's a simple outing and free, but is incredibly entertaining. Before we went, we stopped off at Walgreens to pick up refreshments. They have Happy Hour every Wednesday through Friday from 4:00 to 7:00pm, Buy 1 Coca-Cola 20 oz. bottle and Get 1 Free 20 oz. bottle to share! You can load the coupon instantly on the Walgreens app or click here for more information. Also with your rewards card May through July you get 3,000 Balance Rewards points when you buy participating Coca-Cola products when you purchase $10 of participating Coca-Cola products. Be sure to check out Coke Happy Hour for all the promotional details! We had a silly fun time digging through the bottles in the display for bottles with our names!
We've got a really pretty park with a very large pond. The ducks and geese are all over! It's so fun to just sit and watch them interact with each other. We decided to go in the early evening when the sun wasn't as hot, and there was a mild breeze. Summer time in Kansas can be excruciatingly humid! Our pretty park is full of benches so you can just sit back and relax.
My only child is almost 17 years old. He has a busy teenager life, and prefers the indoors these days. However, even he enjoys getting out for awhile and relaxing at the park. I caught this photo of him watching some little ducks nearby. We always laugh at how the ducks are calm and not that interested in the humans around them, but the GEESE are aggressive and loud! They're not at all afraid of us.
I also took this time to get some shots of the wildlife around us. I love taking photos, and rarely get the time to take outside shots. So I went crazy taking photos of everything on our little outing!
It's little moments like this that sometimes have the biggest impact. Don't get me wrong, family vacations are a blast! But some times the memories you make in little day to day life moments can be the most memorable. For instance: I told my family we were going to go to the park to hang out, visit, and watch the ducks. I also warned them that I was bringing my camera to capture everything. When I pulled out my camera I realized I had left my SD card at home! So they stayed at the park visiting while I ran home to get my SD card. When I got back to the park, this is how I found them... Happy as can be, enjoying each other's company, and loving life.
Now my son will always remember "that time mom took us to the park to take pictures but forgot the SD card!". Or "when mom was trying to get the perfect shot and almost fell is goose poop!" It's so important that in our busy lives we take time to be with our loved ones. Enjoy every moment. Big and small. Each day you're creating happy memories and you may not even realize it. Those are the moments we remember. The memories we share.
This summer, how will you turn a simple "Share a Coke" happy moment into a lifelong memory?
Those little moments really are the best. So funny that you forgot your SD card! Well not funny because I've definitely been there but of course that's going to happen when you need it. I hope it was a fun Happy Hour for your family in the end! #client
ReplyDeleteIt was! Thank you! After the couple of week's we've had, we definitely needed that quiet time at the park!
