.easy healthy breakfast to take to work

chia-seeds-yogurt

I'll be honest, I'm horrible at remembering to pack food to take to work [I only work outside of the home in the morning twice a week].  Which always ruins my week of relatively healthy eating because I'll end up eating fast food.  Breakfast is so important and I hate skipping out on it.  My favorite grab && go breakfast to throw together is a greek yogurt I mix myself.  I have a hard time allowing myself to purchase pre-packaged little fruit flavored yogurts.  Sure they're convenient, but it's not anything you can't do yourself.

DoItOnADime over on youtube did a video awhile back on these great glass containers with lids that she gets from the dollar tree.  She said that when they get them in, they go fast.  So I ran to my local dollar tree && picked up 6 of them.  This is what I use to put my yogurt in for work.

What you need:
  • Plain Non-Fat Greek Yogurt
  • Fruit [I used blueberries]
  • Agave Nectar [I use the organic brand offered at Aldi]
  • Chia Seeds
  • Container with lid

I spoon out the amount of Greek Yogurt I want into the container I will be taking to work.  Usually I add in frozen fruit.  I always have frozen fruit on hand for smoothies.  I put this yogurt together the night before work, it allows the frozen fruit time to thaw, and flavors the plain greek yogurt.  Once you have your yogurt and fruit together, you'll add in the agave nectar.  Now, I don't measure this out like I probably should, I just drizzle some on it until I'm satisfied.  I then mix it all together and sprinkle with chia seeds.  Put it in the fridge, and it's ready to go in the morning.

Greek Yogurt Benefits:
  • High in Protein
  • Low in Sodium
  • Low in Carbs
  • Easy to Digest
  • Contains Probiotics
Agave Nectar Benefits:
  • Low Glycemic Index value
  • Natural Sweetener
  • Intensified Sweetness/uses less
Chia Seed Benefits:
  • Slows digestion
  • High in Fiber
  • Packed with Omega-3 fatty acids
  • + so much more, research these little guys!

That's all there is to it.  Tasty, healthier than prepackaged, and you can customize it however you want.  What do you take to work for breakfast?

    1. Fixed like this, you don't really taste them. They're there for the added health benefits. They're super tiny like sesame seeds.

  15. I get a bit bad myself when it comes to preparing breakfast for myself before I go to work. I like it a lot when I'm in my parents' house because my Mom still prepares the best brekky for my brother and I. I like the recipe that you shared - the only problem that I have is where to get fresh blueberries ( and all the healthier kinds of fruits ) here in PH. I need to start looking for subs.

    1. Just a helpful hint... You might transfer them to the fridge. They have delicate oils in the seeds that can turn rancid quickly.
