How I Quit Smoking Cigarettes [Part 2]

|may contain affiliate links|

It's been 6 days since my last cigarette and honestly, I'm doing quite well.  I've had a few bad moments, but I'll get to that later on.  Today I'm going to talk about my devices.  Getting started with vaping doesn't have to be expensive, and in the long run it's significantly cheaper [currently as I write this I have saved myself $48.00 since last Monday].  Yayy!

Okay hooooold up, waiiiit!
If you are new to vaping && electronic cigarettes, you've probably heard all of the scare tactics from the news media.  Please, educate yourselves first.  I could go into this myself, but there's a lot of information out there that will much more eloquently give you the facts than I can.  For example, visit the CASAA.  Go ahead, it'll open in a new window.  I'll be here when you get back...

Alright, now that you're all educated && know the facts, let's get started!

vape pens

I started vaping with an eGo vape pen style battery.  You can refer back to part 1 for the whole story.  I found it was definitely good enough to keep me from smoking cigarettes.  The delivery of the flavor was very adequate && I didn't have much cravings for the real thing at all.

vape tanks

Mine came with a top coil clearomizer which I wasn't a huge fan of [first tank in the picture above].  I quickly updated it to a simple bottom coil Kanger Evod tank [second tank in the picture].  I was much happier with this tank.  I found the top coil clearomizer that came with my kit to be slightly difficult to fill, which caused leaking.  I also didn't get a great draw from it.  Now, keep in mind the Kanger Evod bottom coil tank that I purchased was less than $5 so "upgrading" to it was incredibly affordable.  In fact I now have at least 6 of these tanks that I keep in a dish on my coffee table with different juice flavors [I do not have small children in my home.  If you've got small children, please PLEASE be responsible with your nicotine juice!].  These are my grab && go tanks.  They're easy, small, and function well. Great for beginners.  The third tank in the picture above is a Kanger Mini Pro-Tank 3.  It's basically the same idea as the EVOD tank however, it's a pyrex tank.  Some juices are known to cause problems with plastic tanks.  The fourth picture in the picture will be discussed below...

innokin

My current setup was sent to me for consideration from Mt Baker Vapor.  Boyyy am I ever grateful to them!  As satisfied as I was with eGo [and still am, it's usually what I take with me in the car], the beast that they sent me has been awesome!  The onlyy downfall of the eGo was that I only had 1.  The battery life isn't great on those for someone who is chain vaping in the initial quitting smoking phase.  I'd definitely recommend purchasing 2.  In fact most starter kits of this style will come with two.  This way you've always got one charged.  Or... you can skip ahead and get this guy.

[check out my unboxing video I made for fun, ahah!]

Mt Baker Vapor sent me the Innokin iTaste MVP 2.0.  It came with an iClear 30 dual coil clearomizer tank.  Now... I mentioned above that I wasn't a huge fan of the top coil clearomizers.  This is a top coil.  However, I'm really enjoying it.  It has a rotatable mouthpiece which I enjoy.  I'm also a fan of how easy it is to fill with juice && it's very durable.  I've been exclusively using this tank for a week now.  This tank is a bit of a juice hog, but I'm pretty sure that's just a side effect of a dual coil tank.  The flavor boost from the dual coil tank is definitely worth it though.  I'm getting hints of flavors from my juices that I never noticed before.

mvp 2.0

Let's talk about the MVP 2.0 for a minute.  This battery like I've mentioned is a legit beast.  I received my package from Mt Baker Vapor last monday.  It wasn't until Friday that the battery indicator hit yellow, and I charged it.  I didn't have to charge it at that point, but it was friday night && I work through the weekend and didn't want to have to worry about it.  Keep in mind this was with me heavily chain vaping since I wasn't smoking cigarettes anymore.  I'm veryyy impressed with this battery.  It is also a major reason for the improvement in the taste of my juice.  This battery has variable voltage && variable wattage, so you can adjust based on your tank's resistance for an optimal vaping experience.  I'm really loving this guy.  It's vastly changed my vaping experience.

e juice

Mt Baker Vapor also supplied me with 4 bottles of juice.  Your juice is custom mixed when you order it.  They use quality ingredients && DO NOT use diacetyl.  They've got a huge selection to choose from.  [I'm actually about to make a purchase for some more!]  This was my first experience with their juice and I was pleasantly surprised.  I'm loving my new favorite all day vape flavor, Pink Champagne.  It's incredible.  Jess [who has also taken this journey with me] was a previous menthol smoker, so she's been enjoying the Hawk Juice.  You absolutely must try Mt Baker Vapor juice.  Must.  Now. Do it! ahah

  7. My husband smoked for years, even tried to hide it from me but I could always smell the smoke on him. Then he switched to vaping and he says he'll never go back. He doesn't even like the taste of cigarettes anymore and his health has improved immensely! He used to huff walking up the stairs and his lung capacity has drastically improved. He can be active again. I love it too especially because he doesn't taste like an ash tray and he can even vape in bed instead of having to stand outside in the cold to smoke.

  14. Scare tactics from the media? If my history is correct, it's the media that got people smoking in the first place. Why vape? Why not the patch or gum? Does it have to be so visibly obnoxious? What of the fact that vape companies are marketing the product to NON-smokers? It's still inhaling. It's still a drug. it's still addictive. It's still unnatural. It's still unnecessary.

Congratulations on quitting tobacco, but you're not done. You need to quit nicotine to be cured.

    1. Yes its still nicotine. The wonderful thing about vaping is that you can gradually lower your nicotine to zero. Also without getting into a huge debate, you don't have to inhale the vapor if you don't want to. The nicotine particles are larger and you can absorb it through your mouth.

My plan is definitely to move down to zero nicotine =)

    1. It's quite amazing how easily I've been able to turn away from cigarettes. I was about a pack and a half per day smoker. Vaping has helped tremendously. What I'll do is slowly lower my nicotine level in my juice, until it's at zero. Then I'll have fully kicked the nicotine all together.

  32. Congrats Emilee. I had the same experience as you had. I also used the MT3 and T3S kanger evod clearomizer to avoid the tobacco cigs ASAP.
I also did the same things as you done so I can understand how much it was a tough experience that you had.
    Well keep it up.
